Description: The Senior Transportation Program provides rides for adults 60 years of age and older who have no available means of transportation. Requested rides may include transportation to medical and dental appointments, life sustaining health care appointments such as chemotherapy or dialysis, and visits to immediate family in a hospital or nursing home. Rides are also provided for grocery shopping and to complete personal business trips to places such as Social Security, Legal Services, and Medicare Offices.

Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Volunteer Driver: By driving your own or a county vehicle, you will be assisting seniors to and from essential services.

  • Requirements for Volunteer Driver:
    • Current Utah Drivers License: Class D
    • Good driver's record
    • Personal background check clear of theft or violent behavior
    • Completion of Defensive Driving Course
  • Requirements for a Volunteer Who Use Their Own Vehicle:
    • Reliable vehicle with current registration and inspection
    • Personal car insurance as required by the State of Utah
  • Commitment:
    • Minimum of one shift of 4 hours per week. 
  • Training and Support: Senior Transportation Program provides orientation training as well as hands-on training with a seasoned driver. A defensive driving course is provided at no cost to the volunteer. Learning Services incentives are available.

2. Office Support: Answer incoming telephone calls, data entry, and prepare monthly mailings.

  • Requirements:
    • Enjoy talking with people
    • Basic computer skills
  • Commitment: 2 - 4 hours per week (minimum)
