Program Description Make a difference - volunteer with the Senior Transportation Program

The program provides rides for adults, 60 years of age or older, to essential destinations such as dialysis, chemotherapy, doctor visits and prescription pick-up and visits to immediate family in a hospital or nursing home.

Volunteer Opportuntities Volunteer drivers transport seniors to and from essential services using either their own car or a County-owned vehicle.

Office support volunteers answer incoming calls, perform data entry and prepare monthly mailings.

Volunteer Requirements

To be a volunteer driver, you must:

Possess a current Utah Driver License - Class D
Have a good driving record
Pass an extensive background check
Complete a Defensive Driving course
Commit to working at least one 4 hour shift per week

In addition, for volunteers using their own vehicle:

Have a reliable vehicle with current registration and inspection
Have personal car insurance as required by state law

To be an office support volunteer, you must:

Enjoy talking with people
Possess basic computer skills
Commit to working at least one 2-4 hour shift per week

Training and Support For drivers, an orientation, including hands-on training, is provided by a seasoned driver. The Defensive Driving course is provided at no cost to the volunteer. Learning Service incentives are also available.

Office volunteers receive on-the-job training working with our transportation dispatch software.
