Senior Companion Program

Senior Companion Program Eligibility

To volunteer as a Senior Companion, you must:

Be at least 55 years of age or a caregiver of someone 60 or older
Have a monthly income of $1,800 or less for a single person and $2,425 or less per couple
Willing and able to serve 20 hours per week

The reimbursement you receive ($2.65/hour) is NOT considered income by law, is non-taxable and does not reduce other entitlement program benefits such as subsidized housing, Medicaid, food stamps, Social Security or SSI.

To receive help from a Senior Companion, you must:

Be at least 60 years of age
Be in need of assistance in maintaining your independence or in need of respite for your caregiver
