An Ombudsman discusses client care at a nursing home The Long-Term Care Ombudsman program was created to provide advocacy to residents, 60 years of age and older, who live in long-term care facilities (nursing homes and assisted living facilities) throughout the Salt Lake and Tooele counties.

Ombudsmen advocate for the resident who feels powerless and vulnerable in terms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and resident rights.

Ombudsmen also educate staff, family members, the community and residents regarding long-term care issues.
