Program DescriptionMake a difference - volunteer with the Bridges Program The Bridges program places volunteers in the classrooms of participating schools in Salt Lake County to help children struggling with their school work.
Volunteer Opportuntities Bridges volunteers, working under the direction of classroom teachers, help children improve their reading, spelling and math and/or writing skills by tutoring them. Volunteers establish friendships with the children, help them improve their self-esteem, expand their interests and offer a vital connection to the school that many children lack.
Volunteer Requirements Must be at least 45 years of age, pass a mandatory background check, spend 2-4 hours per week in the classroom and commit to spend the school year with the classroom.
Training and Support Complete an orientation prior to serving and attend on-going trainings throughout the year.
